Receiving via ASN (Advance Shipping Notice)
aka License Plate Receiving

As you know, WordStock has always had two methods/modes of receiving:

1. Scan mode: scan each item in each carton into the receiving screen

2. Exception mode: enter PO#s and note "exceptions" to quantities based on actual carton contents.

To these we've added receiving by Advance Shipping Notice (ASN) with select vendors.

Advance Shipping Notice (ASN) receiving allows you to scan the barcode on the outside of a carton of books and add the contents of that carton onto a receiving batch. This should make receiving from these vendors faster and easier, reducing the work-hours and related costs associated with receiving.

Vendors currently supporting ASN Receiving in WordStock are:

Ingram (and Ingram Publisher Services via combined shipments with Ingram);

Baker & Taylor; and

Penguin Random House – Direct, not via Pubnet.

The carton content data used for ASN is produced as a byproduct of the Electronic Ordering (EO) interface with these vendors, so using WordStock EO with the vendors in question is necessary to use ASN.  This is not a problem for most WordStock users, but any goods ordered outside of EO (e.g., iPage) are not included in the ASN data.

• The cost for each vendor is $9.50 per month
